LPC Printing's first premises

1964

LPC Printing Limited was founded in 1964 by David Lee in humble surroundings in Lyndhurst - the capital of the New Forest.

Beginning life as Lyndhurst Printing Company and consisting of one duplicating machine the company moved to Holbury within the first year and a few months later to The Old Bakery in Blackfield.

The company traded from that site until the move to its present location in 1973.

Printing was somewhat different in those days consisting of mainly black and white or the occasional spot colour to enhance the item.

Communication between customer was by phone call or letter - long before the advent of fax machines or email.

1979

1979 saw the next generation enter the business as Nick Lee joined from school.

Embarking on an apprenticeship that would see him learn all the aspect of the trade as it was then.

Nick moved into estimating soon after.

1986 - 1994

Having survived on single and two colour presses the company invested in its first four colour press in 1986 along with the first of the studio systems that formed the backstay of systems today.

Work began to move slowly away form the dullness of mono and two colour into the CMYK era - enabled by the advent of the Apple Mac.

Following an MBO in 1994 Nick took the reins as Managing Director with fellow Production Director Ian Curtis and Kathie Harrison as Financial Director. Together they continued to expand the business throughout the nineties.

2000 - 2004

Technology was the main driver for investment throughout the period and LPC now boasted a stable of 5 colour presses and a complete array of finishing equipment - skilfully operated by 80 people.

They invested heavily in the studio and continued to be ahead of the pack in dealing with the complexities of the modern graphics area.

2003

The turn of the millennium saw a major appointment take place. Jason Tilbury - Technical Director, joined the company and began a process of changing the whole structure of both graphics and MIS systems within the organisation.

Following an MBO in 2003 the company, led by a board of Nick, Jason & Kathie, embarked on an investment programme totalling some £2 million, that would lead to the installation of Heidelberg presses, including a 10 colour perfecting press, new finishing equipment and a complete new digital section.

During 2005, and with staff numbers around 58 LPC made another major appointment and Guy Bosworth - Commercial Director, joined the organisation and set about revolutionising the customer side of the company with the formation of the Customer Services team - consisting of Account Managers, Marketing Executives and Estimators.

2007

With changes to pioneer the emerging JDF technology, continual investment in technology and a highly skilful workforce turnover approached £5 million during 2007 and LPC cemented its position as one of the South's leading print and communications organisations.
